Fine Jewelry Care Guide
Precious metals and crystalline gemstones are extraordinarily durable, yet intentional daily rituals will keep your heirlooms shining with the day-one fire of the atelier.
Diamonds & Hard Gemstones
Diamonds (Mohs 10) and Sapphires (Mohs 9) attract skin oils and lotions over time, creating a cloudy film beneath the pavilion.
1. Soak the piece in warm water with a few drops of mild, phosphate-free dish soap for 15 minutes.
2. Gently brush behind the stone basket with a soft baby toothbrush.
3. Rinse under lukewarm running water (ensure the drain is plugged!) and pat dry with lint-free microfiber.
Freshwater Baroque Pearls
Pearls are organic gems with a porous nacre surface. They require gentle consideration to prevent dehydration or chemical etching.
• Put on your pearl creations after applying cosmetics, hairspray, and perfume.
• Never submerge pearls in ultrasonic baths, harsh detergents, or lemon/vinegar solutions.
• Wipe gently with a soft damp cloth after wearing before storing in a breathable fabric pouch.
14k/18k Solid Gold & Platinum
Solid noble metals do not tarnish or rust. However, contact with harsh chlorine (pools, hot tubs, household bleach) can weaken gold alloys over time.
• Remove rings before heavy weightlifting, gardening, or cleaning with harsh abrasives.
• Platinum displaces rather than chips, naturally developing a distinguished satiny sheen (patina) that can be polished back to mirror shine at any time.
Storage & Travel Protection
Diamonds can scratch other diamonds, metals, and softer gemstones if tossed loosely together in a drawer.
• Store each piece individually in the provided soft suede pouch or a velvet-lined jewelry box compartment.
• Fasten chain necklaces before storing flat to prevent knots and kinks in delicate links.
